INTRODUCTION:
The David C. Wynecoop Memorial Health Center is seeking a mental health clinical counselor to join the Behavioral Health department. This position reports to the Behavioral Health Manager . The position provides outpatient counseling support to clients of the Health Center individuals residing on or around the Spokane Indian Reservation.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direct outpatient psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families and groups, by performing mental health and substance abuse assessments, develops and implements treatment plans and evaluates treatment outcomes with the ability to assess both mental health and substance abuse diagnoses.
- Develops appropriate treatment plans for clients. Maintains all notes of sessions current with no greater than a 72 hour lag from pt session.
- Carries a client workload sufficient to generate on average 7-8 sessions daily.
- Develops and facilitates individual and group sessions according to the needs of the client population as well as being able to facilitate these groups. Which may include both mental health and substance abuse counseling, using a multi-modality approach.
- Provide counseling for all areas of mental illness including but not limited to individual, marital/family dysfunction, child, abuse/neglect and substance issues (including urine drug screens as indicated).
- Provides substance abuse/addictions education to clients and families.
- Recommends and arranges referrals for specialized treatment and provides follow-up care.
- Functions as a primary therapist and case manager for a given number of clients.
- Participates in case conference and provides consultation to other professional staff.
- Follows all policies of DCWMHC, including strict compliance with HIPAA , is up to date clinical records, and other documentation as required.
- Provides pre-admission screening and aftercare counseling in conjunction with community-based clinics.
- Attends all mandatory staff meetings and in-services.
- Work to promote cooperative staff efforts to provide and maintain high quality service to patients.
- Works within the parameters of health insurance mandates as well as managed care programs.
- Implements approved methods of treatment to meet goals and objectives, with completed regular reporting requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Providing a comprehensive interdisciplinary service to David C. Wynecoop Memorial Health Center clients with mental health, substance or alcohol abuse and co-occurring disorders.
- Responsible for conducting initial assessments, evaluations and interpretation in developing appropriate interventions and/or treatment/recovery plan for client through individual or group therapy plans.
- An understanding of the concepts related to cultural components, medical and social factors influencing the lives of persons who are suffering from substance or alcohol abuse and mental health issues as well as how it affects families.
- Knowledge and experience in clinical interviewing practices and procedures; working with diverse mental health issues including trauma and generational trauma.
- Ability to effectively communicate the goals of the treatment program to clients, maintain effective relationships with community organizations and agencies, addictions screening and generates referrals as required.
- Facilitate an effective interpersonal relationship with clients, families and community in maximizing continued interest while keeping professional boundaries.
- Skills in organizing, planning, and facilitating support/therapy groups. Ability to complete accurate documentation such as but limited to, comprehensive assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, correspondences, group therapy notes, and all other required documentation in a timely manner per the established policies, procedures and requirements related to client electronic medical record keeping.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- May be LPCC, LMHC, LMFT, LICSW-R, LICSW, Or Associate in any of these areas.
- Master’s degree required with ability to obtain licensure in WA.
- Candidate must have ability to work with all ages, possess knowledge of the counseling process to meet the needs of awareness of family systems, therapy techniques, and treatment of substance abuse/dependence, family violence, and sexual abuse.
- Required to travel as needed for departmental operational demands
- Valid WA driver’s license required. Ability to be insured in WA
- Able to pass federal background check, and drug screening
