The Spokane Tribe Air Quality Program is here to protect the health of those living on the reservation, and off, from air quality concerns. The Spokane Tribe was redesignated a Class 1 Airshed under the Clean Air Act (42 USC Section 7474), effective in 1985. This allows the tribe to have a larger influence on what pollutants are allowed to emit within, and without the reservation within 100 km or 50 miles.

1. The program monitors air quality;
2. Provides outreach & education on air quality matters;
3. Reduce the risk of radon gas (second leading cause of lung cancer) in homes, our schools and tribal offices;
4. Reduce risk of indoor air quality pollutants and asthma triggers upon request.
