Spokane Tribe Air Quality Program
The Spokane Tribe Air Quality Program is here to protect the health of those living on the reservation, and off, from air quality concerns. The Spokane Tribe was redesignated a Class 1 Airshed under the Clean Air Act (42 USC Section 7474), effective in 1985. This allows the tribe to have a larger influence on what pollutants are allowed to emit within, and without the reservation within 100 km or 50 miles.
- The program monitors air quality;
- Provides outreach & education on air quality matters;
- Reduce the risk of radon gas (second leading cause of lung cancer) in homes, our schools and tribal offices;
- Reduce risk of indoor air quality pollutants and asthma triggers upon request.
