EARLY LEARNING CENTER

Child Care Services

The Spokane Tribal TANF Program offers licensed child care centers at both locations. The TANF Children’s Center is licensed to provide care for up to 38 children at 232 E. Lyons Avenue, Spokane, Washington, 99208; located inside the Spokane TANF building. The Children’s Center (ECEAP Classroom)   provides child care services for children aged 6 weeks thru 6 years old. The Pauline Stearns Early Learning Center is licensed to provide care for up to 56 children; they are located at 6195-B Ford-Wellpinit Rd, Wellpinit, WA, 99040 directly behind the Spokane Tribal Administration Building. The Pauline Stearns ELC provides child care services for children aged one month thru six years. More information for each location is listed below.

Both programs are currently enrolled with Early Achievers. Early Achievers is Washington State’s Quality Rating and Improvement System for early learning facilities which operates under federal grant money in conjunction with the nation’s Race to the Top campaign.

The Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) preschool is a no-cost high-quality preschool program for children age 3 or 4 by August 31, 2020 who are in the foster or kinship care system; and/or income eligible (i.e. family of 4 making less than $29,150); and/or qualify for school district special education services; and/or have developmental or environmental risk factors that could affect school success. ECEAP provides a high-quality preschool curriculum, healthy meals & snacks, parent activities, and family support services.

ECEAP is funded by the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) in collaboration with NorthEast Washington Educational Service District 101 (NEWESD 101) and partnering with 12 school districts and three licensed child care centers.
