Indian Child Welfare

DIVISION OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS)

Provide quality preventative child welfare services, that ensure the protection of children and the preservation of families in a culturally appropriate manner.

Eligibility Criteria: Tribal member or community member residing within the service area of the reservation.

Child Abuse & Neglect Report

DCFS Case Managers

Investigate and assess the risk of imminent harm and/or danger to children. Interview children, adults and collateral contacts to assess the degree of risk, as well as assess which services may be necessary. Provides crisis intervention services and counseling to children and families that are goal-directed, task centered and time limited. Develop and implement case plan or service plan. Provide support counseling for victims of abuse and neglect. Assess placement needs and coordinate services for foster parents, foster children and birth parents. Supervise visitation and assist with transportation.
