Salish Language Teacher
- Facilitate and lead two classes per week, for 3 months. (in-person and zoom). Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with the goals of the program. Incorporate traditional and contemporary teaching methods to engage students of all ages and learning levels. Prepare teaching materials, including handouts, visual aids, and digital resources. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate the needs of both in-person and online learners. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and language practice. Provide individual support and feedback to students. Integrate cultural teachings and practices into language instruction, emphasizing the connection between language, cultural identity, and mental health.
- Must be able to pass a background check. Fluent in the Salish language, including both spoken and written forms. Strong understanding of Salish language structure, grammar, and vocabulary. Familiarity with teaching methods that support language acquisition for diverse age groups. Deep understanding of Salish cultural practices, traditions, and values. Ability to integrate cultural teachings into language instruction. Proficiency in using digital platforms such as Zoom. Must be able to adjust lesson plans based on student needs and program goals.
