RATE OF PAY: $26.00 – $29.00 / PER HOUR

INTRODUCTION:
The goal of the Tribal Language/Culture program is to revitalize the Language, Culture and History of the Spokane Tribe. Our main goal is to ensure that the Language, Culture, and History are being passed down from generation to generation. The Curriculum Specialist will learn the Spokane Language and assist the efforts to revitalize the Spokane Language, Culture and History. The Language Program Manager Trainee will train to take over the administrative duties of the Language/Culture Program Manager.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be able to lead and supervise employees, create a safe environment, resolve conflicts
- Create a positive workplace that aligns with tribal values
- Will supervise staff, being the second in command
- Attend meetings with the Program Manager as it pertains to the program as requested
- Ensures the staff has the proper tools and supplies to perform their job duties
- Work with Staff, Elders, and community members in a respectful manner
- Responsible for the fiscal management of the program
- Writing and preparing budgets and revisions as necessary
- Collaborate with other local education programs as well as Tribal Programs
- The writing and oversight of grant funds and assurance that all the reports are completed on time
- Assist with writing, editing, and proofreading grants
- Must make sure that objectives/deliverables are met promptly.
- Ensure that all project goals and objectives of the program work plan are completed promptly
- Setting up meetings with Elders, Tribal departments/programs, and non-tribal
- Coordinating cultural outings and Training
- Typing language and editing documents
- Team Work with the Program Manager, Administrative Assistant, Grant Reporter and other staff
- Working with Washington state educational departments; OSPI, SBE, PESB
- Become a member First Peoples Committee
- Become familiar with the process of First Peoples Teacher Certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of the daily activities/duties of the Language/Culture Program
- Knowledge of the preservation and revitalization of the Spokane Language/Culture
- Understand grant matching
- Have a good understanding of Spokane Language and culture
- Knowledge of Indigenous education and curriculum development
- Good writing skills
- Know grant implementation and how to write grants
- Have a good understanding of community needs
- Excellent time management skills.
- Be task oriented
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- A High School Diploma or GED required. Preference for degree in
- Must have demonstrated experience in working with Washington State Educational Departments; OSPI, SBE, PESB
- Must have a valid WA State Driver’s License, a good driving record, and be able to hold Tribal insurance.
- Must have demonstrated experience and knowledge of grants and budgets
- Must be able to pass a tribal and federal background check
