RATE OF PAY: $18.00 / HOUR

SUMMARY:

The Insurance Billing & Claims Specialist is responsible for coordinating with insurance carriers and adjusters on ongoing claims for payment, submittals and closeouts. The Specialist is also responsible for annual renewals for the Tribe, ensuring accuracy in additions and deletions throughout the year.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Administer the Spokane Tribes insurance program

· Assess insurance needs for adequate coverage

· Ensure insurance policies meets tribal needs

· Coordinate insurance coverage between insurance broker and program manager

· Submit property list to insurance provider to ensure coverage of all tribal assets

· Reconcile property list to inventory list

· Submit annually employee list to insurance provider for driver license checks

· Process all insurance claims as needed and work with insurance company and adjustors to complete all claims

· Allocate insurance cost by preparing invoices to all tribal programs and/or departments then reconcile invoices to total insurance cost

· Utilize an invoice numbering system for program insurance invoices

· Maintain a worksheet on tribal invoices

· Verify insurance payment by program managers

· Follow up with program managers to ensure insurance invoices are paid timely

· Research options for self-insurance

· Review policies and costs to ensure effectiveness of providers

· Analyze property to determine adequate insurance coverage that meets the program and or tribe’s needs

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

· Basic understanding of Federal Regulations related to procurement and property management functions.

· Must demonstrate the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral from

· Must be able to keep strict confidential information

· Knowledge of basic accounting desired

· Must be able to compute moderate mathematical functions

· Must have excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be skilled in the use of office equipment, computer, calculator, copier and scanner.

· Must be skilled in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Ability to create invoices and spreadsheets.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma or GED
