RATE OF PAY: $17.46 – $23.59 / PER HOUR

INTRODUCTION:

The Back to the Heart Immersion School Driver/Maintenance employee will be responsible in picking up and dropping off children for the Immersion School. Driver/Maintenance will provide any and all maintenance of the school grounds and building.

Other duties are to include but not limited to, the day-to-day operations and activities of the Back to the Heart Immersion School, including assisting in janitorial duties within the school classrooms, offices, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Basic computer skills for record keeping and communication;
  • Operate passenger vehicles in a safe and responsible manner in all road conditions;
  • Inspect, schedule and monitor vehicle maintenance;
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles;
  • Operate vehicles to provide public transit services consistent with established routes and schedules;
  • Maintain documentation regarding vehicle maintenance and custodial duties;
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the inside, outside and safety of the building;
  • Safety Standards that would include identifying, correcting and eliminating unsafe working conditions or potential hazards for the staff, students and visitors;
  • Perform minor repairs to interior, exterior at Back to the Heart Immersion School;
  • Minor carpentry and painting required;
  • Vacuuming of all carpet areas;
  • Washing windows and window sills;
  • Emptying and cleaning wastebaskets;
  • Cleaning restrooms – sinks, mirrors, toilets, urinals, doors, walls, floors, paper towels stocked, toilet paper and soap dispensers full;
  • Sweeping, mopping; keeping parking area free of litter and emptying all outside garbage containers;
  • Clean and maintain restrooms, building floors, walls, ceilings, windows, fixtures, pick up litter and dump garbage;
  • Mow and edge lawns utilizing a variety of equipment including: push mowers, gang mowers, deck mowers, gas edgers and tractors with attachments;
  • Repair and maintain school playground equipment; perform plumbing which require the use of hand tools and small motorized equipment;
  • Operate a variety of equipment used for the school playground and front landscape maintenance work;
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment;
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools which could include edgers, saws, drills, floor buffers, vacuums, and blowers used in building and grounds maintenance;
  • Assist in setting up and taking down tables, chairs, decorations, etc. for Immersion School sponsored activities;
  • Performs unskilled and semiskilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding necessary in maintaining playground, building, facility and ground;
  • Clean debris from playground and front of the building areas;
  • Clean and care for tools and equipment;
  • Prepare, tint and mix paints for painting and spraying.
  • Perform leaf/pine needles and pinecone removal from area trees utilizing a variety of mechanized equipment;
  • Service assigned equipment (vehicles) by checking oil pressure, fuel and tire conditions.
  • Responsible for lighting, safety signs interior and exterior; keeping fire extinguisher inspections up to date;
  • Security;
  • Inventory equipment & supplies;
  • Assemble furniture and equipment;
  • Maintain Vehicle Safety;
  • Schedule Vehicle Maintenance, oil changes etc.;
  • Clean and Gas vehicles;
  • Attend to seasonal maintenance needs such as snow removal and irrigation systems;
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic computer skills for record keeping and communication;
  • Requires kneeling, bending, climbing ladders, and working in inclement weather, etc.;
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours;
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times;
  • Preferred basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and janitorial experience;
  • Ability to take direction;
  • Ability to work independently, cooperatively with members of the public and with co-workers;
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Must have good communication skills with both students and adults.

 

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Food Workers Card (within 3 months)
  • Blood Borne Pathogens Training (within 3 month)
  • First Aid and CPR Certification infant & child (within 6 months)
  • Take a course in Child Abuse and Neglect (within 3 months)
  • Take Spokane Language classes (Ongoing)

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • High school or GED
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License, good driving record required
  • Must be physically able to climb, bend, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to pass all Tribal, State and Federal background checks.
