STATUS: REGULAR/FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT
RATE OF PAY: $20.00 – $25.00 / PER HOUR

INTRODUCTION

Employee will be required to maintain and operate the Wellpinit dump and the Wellpinit Transfer Station Facilities. The employee will also be working with the Utilities and Water/Sewer Department crews on I.H.S. projects and residential, along with city water projects.  Attending to the garbage route as an alternate driver and act as an alternate cashier at the Wellpinit dump and West End transfer stations when needed.  Required experience in operating heavy machinery including, Back-hoe, Excavator and Mini-excavators, Skid-Steers and crawler bulldozer. 

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate heavy equipment to maintain tribal landfill and transfer station
  • Operate garbage truck with compactor
  • Provides day-to-day vehicle and equipment maintenance
  • Provides written or oral reports as requested
  • Monitors and cleans tribal landfill or transfer station
  • Works unsupervised at times
  • Repair garbage cans and dumpsters when needed.
  • Help Utilities and water/Sewer when needed and other duties assigned
  • Will respond to emergencies during or off normal work hours if needed.
  • Should be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Working with water and sewer line repairs
  • Skill with welding
  • Knowledge on repairing equipment and vehicle
  • Knowledge of fabricating
  • Knowledge of community roads/housing areas, etc.
  • Required experience in operating heavy machinery including, backhoe, excavator, mini-excavator, skid-steer and crawler bulldozer.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Willing to travel for training as needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be willing and able to work in all kinds of environments, different types of weather, and may work with Hazardous materials.
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License, and be tribally insurable.
  • At time of employment must successfully clear a criminal background inquiry. 
  • Demonstrated experience in operating heavy machinery including backhoe, excavator, mini-excavator, skid-steer and crawler bulldozer. 
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Water Operators WD1 Certification. 

 

PREFERRED REQUISITES

  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 608 Technician Training for the disposal of appliances that contain regulated refrigerants.
  • CDL License
