News » EPA Tours Midnite Mine Site

July 26 2007

The Environmental Protection Agency has a new Director who oversees the office of Superfund Remediation and Technology Innovation. James Woolford visited the Spokane Indian Reservation on July 26, 2007. Woolford was accompanied by EPA representatives from Seattle and the Spokane Tribe’s Superfund Director Randy Connolly.

Woolford wanted to see first-hand the Midnite Mine site and hear of its affects on the Spokane Tribe. Woolford will take the information back to Washington, D.C. with him to help educate lawmakers of the Midnite Mine and the importance of the mine cleanup. The Seattle EPA office plans to have future Midnite Mine cleanup informational meetings in Wellpinit. All meetings will be announced for community attendance.
