SUMMARY:           

The Spokane Indians Housing Authority is currently seeking a qualified Carpenter on several housing projects. A number of these projects will be to build new homes and other projects will be remodels and major repairs on SIHA homes.

 

The Carpenter will work with the lead carpenters and supervisor in construction, installation and repair of structures and fixtures by performing the following duties.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lay out framing plan from blueprints.
  • Be involved with selecting materials and such as lumber, doors, cabinets and paneling.
  • Works with subcontractors, HVAC, electrical and plumbing and coordinates work schedules.
  • Installs doors, windows, builds stairs, and Installs a variety of floor materials.
  • Installs sheet vinyl and VCT tiles and other floor finishes.
  • Installs Siding, Roofing and other exterior finish work.
  • Works with concrete forms, floor framing, wall framing, setting trusses and other framing.
  • Be willing to work under a arduous work load for the first few months.
  • Other duties as assigned, compatible to this job description.     

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of construction industry;
  • Knowledge of product and material of existing structures and proposed buildings;
  • Skills in operating power tools and equipment, and can operate them safely;
  • Ability to work irregular hours if needed;
  • Ability to work with elders, Tribal staff, vendors and the general public.
  • Willing to take direction from the Lead Carpenter and the SIHA Development Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrates carpenter skills.
  • Demonstrates responsibility and good work ethic.
  • Background check required.
  • A drug test will be required if selected.
  • Valid Driver’s License and be tribally insurable.
