SUMMARY:

The psychologist will primarily work for Behavioral Health and Division of Child and Family Services.  The incumbent will conduct psychological assessments on children and adults.  Will also provide some group and individual sessions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clinical Consultation:  Will schedule clinical staff meetings as least bi-monthly.  Provides consultative services to other programs within Health and Human Services.
  • Supervision:  Provides supervision of mental health counselors.  Where necessary, provide debriefing service for staff and school following critical incidents.
  • Assessment:  Conducts individual psychological examinations, assessments and observations, and score interpret and prepare written reports of these examinations, assessments and observations.
  • Educations and Training:  Will provide education and training to Health and Human Services staff and community on Mental Health issues to include, but not limited to Harm Minimization, Crisis Response, Managing challenging behaviors, Risk Assessment Suicide Intervention, and other areas that are deemed relevant to the needs of the community and staff.
  • Psychotherapy:  Arranges and conducts individual and group counseling sessions for children and parents.
  • Other duties as directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Judgment and Decision-making: High level of personal insight and awareness ensuring decisions are objective.
  • Specialist Knowledge and skills: Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Must b able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Interpersonal Skills:  Demonstrate ability to communicate with non-judgmental language and unconditional positive regard.  Must be able to work as a part of a team.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a licensed Psychologist in the State of Washington.
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Must be able to administer and interpret a variety of testing instruments for children and adults and prepare written assessments.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License, good driving record, and be Tribally insurable.
