POSITION OF DUTIES:
This position will work on fisheries and water quality issues in and around the Spokane Indian Reservation. Primary duties will be writing fisheries and water quality proposals and ensuring their proper completion including data collection and reporting. Duties will include supervising fish, habitat and water quality monitoring based on the objectives set forth in each annual scope of work. The employee will be required to complete necessary sampling while following standard procedures and quality assurance protocols. Strong analytical skills are needed to analyze the data and write annual reports and prepare future scopes of work and proposals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

Design and execution of fisheries and invertebrate surveys.

Design and completion of studies to determine the limiting factors related to redband trout habitat and abundance.

Operating and maintaining continuous and discrete water quality sampling equipment (Hydrolab).

Statistical analysis and interpretation of data.

Prepare proposals and annual reports to funding agency.

Present information to both professional and local interest groups.

Participation in local and regional coordination with project sponsors.

Record keeping and data storage

Train and supervise technicians in completing field and office tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:

B.S. degree in Fisheries Biology or related discipline (aquatic ecology, fisheries, biology, etc.), and at least 2 years experience in the aquatic resources field.

Strong background in data analysis and statistics with familiarity of related software.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Willingness to perform physically demanding work outdoors, potentially during inclement weather, and ability to spend extended time periods in the field.

Demonstrated skills in data management and scientific writing.

Experience with invertebrate/fish and related sampling techniques.

Familiarity with backpack and boat electroshocking equipment
-
Good employment history with references.

Boat operation experience.

Must have vehicle or access to transportation and valid Washington Drivers License and good driving record.

Scuba diving certified or willing to become certified.
