Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age, in good health, and capable of fulfilling the duties as required by this position. An application and Release of Information for background check must be completed and submitted to the Human Resources office no later than 4:30 p.m. on August 10, 2018 on the closing date.
August 31, 2018 (Night Shift, 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.) to September 3, 2018 (Day Shift, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.)
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Special Police Officers shall be responsible for assisting the Spokane Tribe Law Enforcement Department in maintaining Law & Order on the Spokane Indian Reservation during the Spokane Indian Days Pow-Wow. Special Police Officers will be required to enforce laws of the Spokane Tribal Law & Order code and existing Resolutions of misdemeanor arrests when violations occur, transport prisoners to the Wellpinit Detention Facility, assist in booking prisoners, searching vehicles, tents, campers, persons, complete the necessary police report and court reports, appear in court when needed as a witness, and other duties as assigned by the shift supervisor.
Special Police will be responsible for aiding in cleanup and assisting maintenance personnel with garbage duties. This is to enhance cleanliness of the Powwow Grounds and promote pride in our annual celebration.

Previous related work experience, Spokane Tribal Preference, must pass Background check and Drug Test, conducted by the Spokane Tribal Police Department. A copy of Spokane Tribal I.D must be attached with application if Spokane Tribal Preference is requested.

Persons selected for the Special Deputy contracts will be contacted no later than August 22, 2018. A MANDATORY Special Officers meeting will be held at the Main Dance Hall at the Powwow Grounds, Wellpinit, WA. on August 29th, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. for shift assignment, swear-in and introduction to supervisors.
